Isolationism or Interventionism

A letter from Lloyd W. Bailey, Jr.     Alachua County resident-

Every war “these United States” have engaged in since WWII has been a United Nations advocated unconstitutional act.   Foreign aid, which redistributes wealth from the American middle class to wealthy foreign despots, is unconstitutional, detrimental to the citizens of the recipient state and totally immoral.  Any US citizen that dares to question this imperial overstretch is quickly admonished and labeled as an isolationist.  American patriots that expose these unconstitutional acts are typically charged with not supporting the military.  Among the 16 candidates in the 2008 presidential primary, Ron Paul received more donations from active duty and retired military personnel than the remaining 15 combined, and Paul was the only candidate to expressly state that he would end our unconstitutional wars.  This clearly indicates the wishes of the military personnel. The best way to support our troops is to only send them in harm’s way when congress authorizes the act. The charge of isolationism is merely a talking point that totally ignores the warnings given by the founding fathers of our nation which are, peace, commerce and friendly relations with all; but entangling alliances with none. This is not isolationism!

Our early leaders were wise to the violent history and immorality of the European broils. In an Independence Day address to congress, John Quincy Adams stated, “America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy.  She is the well-wisher to freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own”.  The first casualty of war is truth and it is certainly the most expensive thing that nations can ever engage in.  It can only be funded through inflation.  War and the threat of war cause a nation’s citizens to prostrate themselves and voluntarily give up their rights.   A small band of criminals, funded by Russia has used the ‘tactic’ of terrorism to alter our domestic tranquility and freedom. The unconstitutional Patriot Act, was approved unread by a cowardly and irresponsible congress and has recently been extended.  There is much evidence to indicate that the 400 page Patriot Act was actually written prior to 9-11-01. Congress has the authority to issue letters of marque and reprisal to deal with rogue groups rather than commit hundreds of thousands of troops to pursue 200 terrorists.

Some citizens believe we have an obligation to Israel, and no one will prevent them from enlisting in the Israeli Army and funding their foreign policy, but the United States does not engage in foreign conflicts without a congressional declaration of war.  There has never been a shortage of world conflicts to engage in, and history should remind us that all empires have ended violently.  Israel is our largest foreign aid recipient, but the sum of foreign aid to Israel’s enemies is greater.  Ending all foreign aid would not only benefit Israel, but would further remove the American people from the never ending global conflicts.

Our troops are currently occupying more than 700 military bases in 130 countries with 1.5 million military personnel.  This global hegemony is not sustainable.  Why should we borrow money from China to provide defense for the rest of the world, while our borders are overrun? Ten percent of our border violations are OTM’s, (other than Mexican), and it is an Article IV, Section 4 mandate that the states be protected from all invasions, military or otherwise.

The solution is to bring our troops home and use them to secure our borders, as well as round up the illegal invaders that are currently in our country.  Most of them would simply return to their homes if stiff penalties were imposed and enforced for companies that hire these invaders, and all domestic benefits were ended abruptly.   We need to issue a directive to the Mexican government that any more incursions of the Mexican military into our country will be a prelude to war, and this time after our quick and decisive victory, we will not buy their land by treaty as done in 1848.  We currently allow more legal immigration than any nation in the world and they should be encouraged to assimilate.  One of the most ignorant bumper stickers I have ever seen is “Our Strength is in our Diversity”.  Remember that the 9/11 terrorists were here legally.  FBI field agents attempted to arrest many of the 9/11 terrorists before that infamous day and were ordered to stand down.  We need to demand passage of HR. 1146 to get us out of the United Nations and to the get the United Nations out of the United States.  We need to end our participation in NATO, WTO, GATT, NAFTA and all other FTA’S and “mind our own business”.

Foreign interventionism and domestic socialism are the marks of the neoconservative.  Neoconservatives have immorally promoted “preemptive war”, when the only justifiable use of force is for self defense. Irving Kristol wrote, “In 1972, the nomination of George McGovern, an isolationist and candidate of the New left, signified that the Democratic Party was not hospitable to any degree of neoconservativism. This was the point where they began to infiltrate the Republican Party.  Kristol is regarded by many as the father of neoconservativism, with many well known followers such as William Buckley, William Kristol, David Brooks, George Will, Robert Bartley, Charles Krauthammer, and elected leaders such as H.W. Bush, W. Bush, Cheney, Gingrich, Rumsfeld etc.   These neoconservatives have openly stated their goal for “The New World Order” and democracy which is a stepping stone toward that goal.

We must pull the Republican Party back to the constitution and embrace the foreign policies of Ohio Senator Robert Taft, a.k.a. “Mr. Republican”, and great leaders like Barry Goldwater.  One of only two senators to vote against ratification of the UN charter, Senator William Langer said, “Because the UN would be given authority to send our boys all over the earth, I cannot support the Charter. I believe it is fraught with danger to the American people, and to American institutions”.  The history is clear, and to avoid the mistakes of all empires, we must, as George Washington advised, avoid foreign entanglements! We must demand constitutional obedience from congress, thus ending our interventionist policy, and “GET OUT OF THE UNITED NATIONS”.
